Ever wondered what the point of Rhodes Memorial is? I visited in March to take a few pictures of the statue –Curious about why it was built, I found the following:

This monument was built in 1912 on the very place where Cecil John Rhodes used to ride to on horseback to sit and contemplate his future. Built in tribute to Cecil John Rhodes and his public contribution, this floodlit monument is guarded by 8 large lion statues, 4 on each side of the monuments 49 steps. The lions are a tribute to Cecil John Rhode's wish to have real lions roaming his African Garden.   There is 1 step for eacy year of Cecil John Rhode's life.
