Cape Town is famous for many reasons. One of the least desirable reasons, must be the wind.
It was only a few weeks back that I planned a picnic on Clifton that came to an abrupt end because of the wind. Valentine’s Day was pretty similar.
Initially, I had planned for dinner and a show at Vaudeville, made the reservation a few weeks in advance and then sat back and relaxed. (I’m organized like that). I was still relaxed up until days before when I called to confirm the booking and was greeted with the news that, “We’re closing down completely and will no longer be doing the Valentine’s Day show”. Sorry. Ok then. Blood drained from face. Thanks. A picnic on the beach it shall be? My valentine, myself, and the wind.
Its not all bad though. Just pop down to Blouberg’s beachfront when the wind is blowing and you’re in for hours of entertainment – For Free. The kiters were out in full swing the weekend past.
I was a little disappointed that I didn’t have my camera of choice with – I would have been able to get some amazing images. I did have my Kodak point and shoot with though, so managed to get a few images of the kiters out. There were tons of them.
These are some pictures from Saturday afternoon as well as from Valentine’s day. Moral of this story – When the winds blowing, leave the picnic basket at home, pack in a jersey and head on down to the beach to watch the show.
I love the rays from the sun in this 1st photograph.
