• Megan & Caitlyn

A few months back, I posted some photographs from a pregnancy shoot of Michael, Cynthia and their little boy Vaughan. They were waiting patiently to welcome twin girls.

Cynthia kept everyone up to date with the progress of her pregnancy via BlackBerry Messenger. Here is an extract of the update I received the day before I left to go on vacation.

    January 12th - 14h30:
Cynthia: Twins update - Girls are doing great. Both are 2.4Kg’s. They are 36 weeks. Arrival date has been booked for Monday, 23rd of Jan.
    Darren: Aaaaaaah, nice and exciting.
Cynthia: Absolutely. Will wait for our socialite photographer to return from his trip :p
    Darren: Yes, please do :p

The next morning, on my way to Sun City, I received the following message from Cynthia’s sister Vanessa:

    January 13th – 11h18:
Vanessa: Cynthia and twins are all good.
    Darren: What? Are they born?
Vanessa: Yip, 2 hours old already ;)

It turns out that when Cynthia woke up at 5h30 on that Friday morning, she realized she was in labour. Her and Michael went to the hospital and by 09h14, they’d met Megan (2.4Kg / 44cm’s) and a minute later Caitlyn (2.2Kg/47cm’s).

Which once again reminds me that we can plan to our hearts content. We have no control in the greater scheme of things, that’s been taken care of by the big man upstairs.

Since the twins were so tiny, we waited a while to take some pics. They’re still really small – weighing in at around 3kg’s – but so flipping cute.

I have a new found respect for photographers specialising in new born work. Babies are so small. I just couldn't bring myself to twist and turn them to do those amazing poses. It would suck to break someone’s baby ;)

Cynthia, Michael and Vaughan - Congratulations on the arrival of the twins.  Wishing you much joy, love and happiness.

Here are some of the pics from the shoot.
