During the interview, I asked him what advice he had for the viewing public and he said, “When an opportunity presents itself, don’t just jump… Leap!” I never forgot it.
That’s exactly how I felt I needed to react when highly acclaimed Cape Town based photographer, Christine Meintjes announced she’d be holding a workshop and sharing her story, vision and well, creative genius. [She said story, I read vision and creative genius - I wasn't disappointed ;) ]
Dont jump, Leap - I leapt into action and managed to secure myself a seat. Well done, Me :)
If you’ve never seen her work, you have to visit http://www.christinemeintjes.co.za/
Apart from being an amazing photographer, Christine and her husband Iaan, also run a site for photographers – http://www.kiki.co.za/ - The philosophy, “Learn, Share, Love” is deeply entrenched in the brand and is evident in everything they do. If you have any interest in photography or learning more about running a successful business, it’s definitely something you should take a look at. Entrepreneurship at its best with a defined focus on exceeding customer expectations.
Now if that isn’t enough to impress you … And I find that hard to believe, Christine is also the co-founder of The Pretty Blog - South Africa’s “GoTo” guide on all things design inspired and any brides must have bible of ideas. They do it all.
Back to the workshop - It spanned over two days and was held at Clouds Estate in Stellenbosch. What an experience. To be surrounded by other photographers all open to sharing and learning in itself was a treat, and then the opportunity to photograph amazing décor and a beautiful couple in an ideal setting - with guidance from Christine – well, what more could you ask for really?
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Christine, Iaan, and Co…. Easily describe the experience as two of my best days of 2011!! I left feeling inspired, more prepared and ready to take things to a whole new level. Awesome.
